Nearly 25% of homeowners who paid out of pocket to repair weather damage are still carrying debt for it, and 71% of those have carried it for two years or more. The finding comes from a survey of 1,047 homeowners. It is what the gap looks like from inside a household: not a line in a state's damage assessment, but a balance that outlasts the storm by years.
