A joint tally by The Narwhal and the Winnipeg Free Press puts the direct cost of Manitoba's 2025 wildfire season at C$500 million or more, about $360 million at the 24 April rate. Fires burned 2.3 million hectares and forced more than 33,000 people from 59 communities.
